Incurve Life (2019)

He had been left to be carried by a gentle saffron wind, that of an immanent song that inhabited his album The Sweetness Of A Saffron Wind. Meta, is back with Incurve Life, a title that already traces its course: "I wanted to express the limitless evolution, in the form of a life in a curve that draws a random and infinite course. » This is the essence of this new impetus, a desire for music in motion, a desire not to stick to a register or a formula. It is all the strength of these eight compositions to escape the heavy law of categories.

Pierre de BETHMANN, piano; Meta, vocals and percussion; Karl JANNUSKA, drums; Michael FELBERBAUM, guitars; Stéphane GUILLAUME, tenor saxophone, soprano & transverse flute; Simon Tailleu, double bass.

The Sweetness Of A Saffron Wind (2013)

With its album The Sweetness of a Saffron Wind, Meta drapes itself in the warm colors of lʼAfrique and Brazil, enveloping us with a fiery breath of spicy scents. The album cover is the first illustration of this, with the distinctive silhouette of the songwriter, singer and percussionist standing out against a white background, while his long hair sʼembrasent in saffron tones. But cʼest especially his music, which exhales fragrances that are both soft and intense, as if to better blur the senses. Here, colors and scents mix like so much invitations to dream, travel and pleasure.

Pierre de BETHMANN, piano; François MOUTIN, double bass; META, vocals and percussion; Karl JANNUSKA, drums; Joshua LEVITT, soprano and tenor saxophones, ney; Michael FELBERBAUM, guitars; David EL MALEK, tenor saxophone.

Epigram (2007)

Surrounded by a strong pack of jazz musicians, Meta, a singer with a multicolored voice, offers a music with a very worked out style that one will dare to call sub-Saharan jazz: between soft and spoken songs, on oriental flute tunes, sub-Saharan rhythms and dissonances in declamation. Groovy jazz on " Bee ", with delicious chorus by David El Malek, Brazilian rhythms on " Sweet Ghost ", contemporary jazz for "Self-determination " : Meta's multiple inspirations remain essentially jazz.

Pierre de BETHMANN, piano ; Stéphane EDOUARD, percussions ; David EL MALEK, tenor saxophone ; Michael FELBERBAUM, guitars ; Diego IMBERT, Francois MOUTIN, double bass ; META, vocals and percussions ; Karl JANNUSKA, drums ; Felipe SALDIVIA, vocals ; Thomas SAVY, bass clarinet ; Thomas OSTROWIECKI, talking drums.

Incurve Life

I am proud and moved to present this fourth album, the fruit of a collaboration with a group of exceptional musicians and accomplices, united as a block. Thanks to Pierre de Bethmann (piano), Michael Felberbaum (guitar), Karl Januska (drums), Stéphane Guillaume (soprano saxophone, tenor, flute) and Simon Tailleu (double bass).

" Incurve Life ", an album centered around difference, differences, not only racial differences as one could easily interpret it. It reveals, hopefully in a poetic way, the intense and fragile daily life of inconsistent and beautiful beings. For this record I was able to count on the presence of a string quartet that perfectly transcribed this poetic aspiration. Thanks to Maya Koch (1st violin), Maud Ayats (violin), Flore-Anne Brousseau (viola) and Frédéric Peyrat (cello).

Thanks to the Ferber Studios team for their kindness and professionalism. Finally, a big thank you to Sylvain Gripoix who admirably signed the cover of this album..
